Assignment #9: Classmate Blog Critique
For this assignment, I have the pleasure of critiquing and bragging on two of my classmates for the blogs that they have put together for this course. The first student is Cory Evans, junior Mass Communication major from Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He and I have taken a series of mass media courses together over the last three years, so I have been able to watch him grow as a writer. Cory always seems to find a way to tie his blog posts to things that he has some type of interest in, which can easily be shown in his writing. He writes with lots of passion and detail. I have noticed he writes a lot of things that pertain to gaming, music, and entertainment. As someone who knows nothing about gaming or video games in general I always find his blogs on the matter to be informative and interesting. He also seems to blog about various types of music that he enjoys listening to good musicians. All of his posts have good visuals and interactivity that keep me intrigued throughout the entire blog entry.
Another one of my classmates that has done well in this course this semester is Katherine Ledbetter. One of the first things that I noticed about Katherine’s blog was that the first sentence of each of the blog posts is very intriguing and makes me want to continue reading. Not only that she seems very intentional with the cover images for each of her blog posts because they too help to draw me in as a reader. On the blog post that we did over movies, she discussed the movie Gran Torino and after reading about it I was intrigued and ready to watch it myself. Bedletter’s posts are full of good information and reference all while being concise. In a media course such as this one, being surrounded by other creatives is always great. When we have a new assignment and I am not sure of what topic to pick or something like that, I can look at topics that past and current students in the course have done or are thinking about doing.
